Students understand that making the transition from an environmentally-destructive society to a sustainable is one of the most important challenges facing the world today. Guided by experienced faculty, students will learn about the following topics:

- Social transformation
- Sustainability
- The global crisis
- Present practices in community and society
Upon completing the Certificate in Building a Sustainable World program, graduates will understand the breadth and depth of contemporary global challenges to a sustainable world. They will be able to critically evaluate existing theories and models of sustainability and use the tools, techniques, and practices to guide successful change efforts. Professionals with this specialized training may find work in environmental non-profits, city or county government, or any ecologically-minded organization.
