This program is intended for students who wish to work in community-focused organizations as well as mental health practitioners who wish to connect mental health concerns to a broader environmental context. Offered in several formats, this program can be structured to concentrate on several topics, including:
- Transformative Social Change Interventions
- Violence prevention
- Resolving community conflicts
- Employment and homelessness
- Social justice
- Health and mental health services
Through the Certificate in Community Health and Development program, students will learn to identify the spiritual, economic, political, and psychological frameworks that evoke the strengths of individuals, groups, and communities. Familiar with approaches to intervention as well as current initiatives, graduates will be able to design community interventions that address particular concerns in their community. Graduates may find work in various human service organizations, including private, nonprofit, or governmental agencies.
