Admission Requirements
At a minimum, you must have received, or anticipate receiving prior to the start of the semester you are applying into, a bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited college or university before applying for a master’s degree at Saybrook.
Application for a Ph.D. also requires a master’s degree from Saybrook or another regionally-accredited college. An exception is made for students who are applying to the Ph.D. Clinical Psychology program, who must have completed a B.A./B.S. in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work, or 12 semester credits/20 quarter credits of Psychology coursework completed at a regionally-accredited college or university.
The minimum expected grade point average (GPA) requirement is 3.0 from the last degree-granting institution, though exceptions may be made. You may apply for only one-degree program per application cycle. The tables below summarize the general requirements by program. Please contact us if you have any questions throughout the process.

Re-Application to M.A./Ph.D. programs
For Saybrook graduates or students interested in seeking admissions to continue their studies in a new or ongoing study program, please contact Admissions for the requirements. Please note applicants must have completed their M.A./M.S. degree at Saybrook or be within six credits of completion. Admission to Ph.D. programs is not granted until all requirements for graduation are filed, completed, and certified by the Registrar.
Re-Admission to Saybrook
For students who have been withdrawn for more than one year and are seeking re-admissions, please contact Admissions for the necessary steps. Re-admissions process details and policy are available in the current catalog.
