Carl M. Hild, PhD ’07 Organizational Systems – Received a National Library Of Medicine Award for 2010-2011 to continue the work he has been conducting in partnership with the Inupiaq traditional healers in northwestern Alaska.
The community-based project is collecting insights from regional elders on how they would like to assure that future generations have the traditional cultural knowledge and skills that promote and restore health and well-being. This new work will be added to a video production previously funded by the NLM, which is now available at the Arctic Health website under Traditional Healing, Sharing and Teaching, through the half-hour introductory program Understanding the Healing Hands of the Maniilaq Tribal Doctors: A Training Video (http://www.arctichealth.org/tm.php#st) Dr. Hild is at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage and is the Director of the Health Services Administration Program.
