Project Manager/Researcher Position: Advancing Interdisciplinary
Research in Singing -(AIRS) University of Prince Edward Island
Applications are invited for the position of AIRS Project
Manager/Research Associate (or Project Manager/Research Scientist –
depending on qualifications). The position is based at the University of
Prince Edward Island, Canada and is available immediately. It offers an
exciting opportunity for someone with a unique combination of
technical, management, and research strengths, and interests in music,
culture, cognitive social science and digital communications. A
doctorate in a relevant field (e.g., linguistics, social sciences,
cognitive science, music information retrieval, etc.) is preferred as is
7 or more years of experience, although more junior or more senior
candidates will be considered. Salary is commensurate with experience
(within the University context).

AIRS (Advancing Interdisciplinary Research in Singing) is a leading
edge major collaborative research initiative focussing on singing: how
singing develops, how to teach singing and use singing to teach, and
how singing impacts on well-being broadly defined. The project is also
developing a digital library using Drupal and Fedora to support the
research. The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of
Canada is funding the project for 7 years, and the project is in its
3rd year of operation. Approximately 60% of the researchers are from
Canada and the remainder represent 15 other countries on 6 continents.
