Are you frustrated with politics and the lack of civil discourse in community? Do you wonder if you can make a difference? For three days in July, 2013, at events across Seattle, internationally known educator, author and activist Parker J. Palmer will spark a community conversation based on his latest book, Healing the Heart of Democracy: The Courage to Create a Politics Worthy of the Human Spirit. The latest of Palmer’s nine books, Healing shows his commonsense approach to politics that serves the common good.
Saybrook University is joining with The Center for Courage & Renewal to sponsor a series of events devoted to exploring these topics. Founder and senior partner of the Center for Courage & Renewal, Palmer was named in 2011 an Utne Reader Visionary, one of “25 people who are changing your world.”
Events include a talk at Benaroya Hall on July 16, a half-day workshop July 17 at Saint Mark’s on Capitol Hill on Civil Discourse, and a lunchtime panel July 18 with CityClub at Town Hall. This event series is presented by Seattle non-profit, the Center for Courage & Renewal. The Center provides programs and resources that nurture the courage to live and work with integrity.
