How can a health professional acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies for the emerging fields of integrative and functional nutrition? We are excited to announce that Saybrook University, already a leader in the field of Mind-Body Medicine and Integrative Health, is offering a unique new Master’s Degree program in Integrative and Functional Nutrition to prepare students to successfully practice in this emerging area of healthcare. The degree will enroll its first cohort in August 2014, pending WASC approval. 

The curriculum has been designed to immerse students in the best of mainstream nutritional science and evidence-based approaches to integrative healthcare. Courses include health coaching, mindfulness and meditation, whole foods and culinary nutrition, dietary supplements and herbal medicine, laboratory assessment in functional nutrition, and clinical nutritional therapeutics based on integrative and functional medicine models.

About Dr. Donald Moss

In addition to serving as the program chair of Saybrook’s School of Mind-Body Medicine, Dr. Donald Moss serves on the Board of the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, and is past president of the American Psychological Association’s division on hypnosis. The author of more than 50 publications in the field, he is an internationally sought after trainer on mind-body medicine techniques to medical professionals and maintains an active practice in Michigan. His most recent book is Pathways to Illness, Pathways to Health (Springer, 2013)

About our Guests:

Kathie Madonna Swift, MS, is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist and a thought leader in the field of integrative and functional nutrition. Kathie received the Visionary Leadership Award  from the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine, a dietetic practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has been the Education Director for Food As Medicine (Center for Mind Body Medicine) for over a decade.  

Sarah Clark, MS, RDN, is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) and Integrative and Functional Nutritionist. She has worked for over 15 years in hospitals, outpatient clinics and academic research settings. Sarah was first introduced to integrative and functional medicine related concepts while working as a research coordinator at UC San Francisco (UCSF) Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and managing nutritional genomics related studies with early stage prostate cancer patients. She learned first-hand the power of integrative and naturopathic medicine through her own personal health journey dealing with the disability and side effects from a serious injury.
