Dr. Deborah Wilcox holds a master’s degree in public administration, a master’s in clinical community counseling, and a doctorate in counseling education. She has previously served as an instructor at Kent State University, the University of Dayton, Union Institute, and the University of  Cincinnati, providing instruction in multi-cultural counseling, adolescent development, public health administration, and grant writing. She is now on the faculty at Saybrook University’s School of Mind-Body Medicine.

This webinar is designed to open up a safe space for students and faculty to engage in the exploration and acquisition of the necessary knowledge, awareness and skills needed to become conscious and mindful multicultural  practitioners, learning the importance of viewing themselves and others within multiple cultural contexts. Participants will also explore how to demonstrate multicultural competency as an ethical best practice in fostering wellness, recovery, support, and service delivery. The webinar process will permit participants to explore volatile issues related to cultural identity, privilege, oppression, stigma, race,     ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, religious diversity and other issues related to human differences. Most importantly participants will have an opportunity to explore the principles of Multicultural Competency within the context of Mind Body Medicine Theory and Practice.
