
The Integrative Healthcare Symposium is an internationally recognized annual conference providing multi-disciplinary scientific and clinical presentations on integrative medicine, functional medicine, and nutrition. This year the meeting will be in New York City at the New York Hilton Midtown on February 24-27, 2016.
Saybrook University will be hosting a booth at the Integrative Healthcare Symposium on Thursday and Friday, February 25-26. University President Nathan Long and College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences Dean Donald Moss will be present at the booth and the conference.
There will also be a Saybrook University hospitality reception in the Morgan Suite in the New York Midtown Hilton on Friday, February 26 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. We would be pleased if you joined us there.
Guest speakers at the reception will be Drs. Susan Blum and Kathleen Farah. Susan Blum is a pioneer in functional medicine, founder and director of the Blum Center for Health, and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Kathleen Farrah is a family physician with the Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Western Wisconsin who combines conventional with integrative medicine to facilitate healing across the lifespan.
At the Friday night reception, Drs. Blum and Farah will provide a brief discussion of their practices in integrative medicine, functional medicine, and nutrition. Light refreshments will be served along with a variety of wines and beverages.

Susan Blum, MD, is a pioneer in Functional Medicine, and a nationally recognized speaker, author and teacher. As founder and director of Blum Center for Health and through her patient care, education, writing, research and medical mentorship program, she is revolutionizing the healthcare industry and the lives of those with chronic illness. Dr. Blum is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and on the Medical Staff of Greenwich Hospital. She is certified in Functional Medicine, Senior Faculty with the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Co-Founder of Organic Pharmer, and author of The Immune System Recovery Program. She is on the medical advisory board for the Dr. Oz show and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and is on the Council of Directors for the True Health Coalition.
Kathy Farah, MD, is a family physician who combines conventional with integrative medicine to facilitate healing across the lifespan. She has a primary care practice at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Western Wisconsin, where she also offers craniosacral therapy, mind body medicine, and nutritional counseling to her patients. As a consultant in the Pain, Palliative Care and Integrative Medicine department of Children’s Minnesota, she brings this breadth of knowledge, in addition to biofeedback, to children and families facing acute and chronic illness.
Dr. Farah is senior faculty for the Center for Mind Body Medicine, and has been involved in national and international programs including work in Haiti and with American Indian communities. She has been a lead instructor in CMBM’s training program at Saybrook University.
